ECONOMIC JUSTICE
Progressive Majority Wisconsin promotes leaders committed to shared prosperity. Our candidates will fight for a common sense agenda that creates good jobs and decent work standards for all people. Our leaders will work to:
- Protect the right to organize and strike
- Enforce workplace safety standards and expand workplace right-to-know laws
- Make corporations respect laws that protect workers, consumers and the environment
- Raise the minimum wage to a living wage that can sustain families
- Enforce pay equity for men and women doing equivalent work
- Hold corporations accountable for exploitive, unfair workplaces
- Lead in the struggle against poverty
CIVIL RIGHTS
Progressive Majority Wisconsin elects leaders that fight discrimination and defend our personal freedoms. Our leaders will work to:
- End racial profiling and discriminatory sentencing
- Prohibit discrimination in employment, public accommodations and housing practices
- Protect immigrant workers from discrimination
- Appoint judges who protect the rights and safety of all people
- Punish hate crimes to the fullest extent of the law
- Support election reforms that make voting easy, accessible and secure
- Defend our homes, phones and in-boxes from unwarranted search and seizure
- Protect our right to free speech and assembly
HEALTH CARE
Everyone in Wisconsin should have affordable, high quality, comprehensive health care. Progressive Majority Wisconsin elects leaders who will:
- Invest in public health and preventive health programs
- Secure the right to long-term care
- Hold HMOs and insurance carriers accountable
- Provide pre-natal care and infant health and nutrition to all families
- Provide comprehensive health care for the uninsured and the underinsured
- Increase equality in biomedical research, health education, and access to health care
- Secure and expand the Badger Care and Senior Care programs that include a prescription drug benefit
- Control the soaring costs of medicine and drugs
EDUCATION
Our children deserve the best education system in the world. Progressive Majority Wisconsin candidates are committed to quality education. They will work to:
- Reduce class sizes and update classrooms
- Guarantee pre-school and after-school programs for every child
- Recruit and retain high-quality, well-trained teachers
- Make college and technical school affordable
- Require high standards for student achievement in our public schools
- Keep our schools safe and ensure all students are treated with fairness and respect
THE ENVIRONMENT
Progressive Majority Wisconsin elects leaders who will protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and the very climate in which we live. They work to:
- Enforce clean water, clean air, and food quality protections
- Invest in affordable, renewable energy sources and sustainable development
- Clean up and redevelop brownfields
- Preserve our wilderness, protect our ecosystems, and curb suburban sprawl
REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM
Families, not politicians, have the right to make deeply personal decisions about abortion in private. Our candidates will fight to:
- Empower women and families to make their own reproductive and sexual choices
- Increase access to contraception, medical services, adoption programs and child care
- Educate youth about sexual health and pregnancy prevention
- Develop reproductive health policies and research sensitive to women of color
- Promote community-based reproductive health services
