Poll: Scott Walker is Vulnerable
A failed gubernatorial bid and another pension scandal.
So reads Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker's sad legacy. You have to wonder if he ever thinks twice about a run for re-election next spring.
A new poll from Forward Strategies suggests he should.
“Generally speaking, do you think things in Milwaukee County are headed in the right direction, or do you believe things here are off on the wrong track?”
Right Direction (Jan 2004)
23% (48%)
Wrong Track (Jan 2004)
58% (23%)
A 35% swing toward "Wrong Track" in just three years? Unsurprisingly, Walker's support has taken a nosedive.
“I know it's a long way off, but if the election were held today, do you think you would definitely vote to re-elect County Executive Scott Walker, would you probably vote to re-elect him, would you probably vote for someone else, or would you definitely vote for someone else?”
Definitely / Probably re-elect Walker (Jan 2004)
43% (64%)
Definitely / Probably someone else (Jan 2004)
39% (22%)
If you are an incumbent and you can't hit 50% support then you are in trouble.
Scott Walker is in trouble.
UPDATE: Dan Bice has picked up the trail at the Journal Sentinel.
Walker campaign chairman, Tim Russell, cries foul!
"There hasn't been a discussion yet of all the positive things that are going on in Milwaukee County, and the executive's record on that."
Like this? Riiiiiight.
